At BIRN we have the opportunity to mould in a variety and different sizes, as we have a DISAMATIC plant.
We also offer different material qualities. Mould sizes and material grades are mentioned below:

DISAMATIC mould sizes and material grades are mentioned below:

  • 480 x 600 mm
  • 600 x 775 mm
  • 700 x 950 mm

EN-GJL-200 EN-JL 1030
EN-GJL-250 EN-JL 1040
EN-GJL-300 EN-JL 1050

Properties: Good damping properties
Application examples: Gear housings, hydraulics housings, pump housings, brake discs etc.

Nodular Iron according to EN 1563:

EN-GJS-600-3 EN-JS1060
EN-GJS-700-2 EN-JS1070

Properties: Good tensile strength, dutile
Application examples: An alternative to steel and drop-forged parts, e.g. in the automotive industry

Casting tolerances
For machine casting the tolerances are as specified in ISO 8062 CT8 - CT10. For annealed goods, EN-GJL and EN-GJS are used. In the above tolerances, mismatch allowance and shrinkage allowance are included. In the case of thicknesses, of course, a greater degree of tolerance band is used than that which applies to ordinary dimensions.

Machining allowances
A machining allowance of 2 mm is usually expected for dimensions up to 120 mm and 2.5 - 3 mm for dimensions larger than 120 mm.
See ISO 8062 grade F - G for more information.

Pattern draft specification
According to the norms, no draft is included in casting tolerances. Therefore it is important to specify how the draft should be located in relation to the drawing dimensions.

For consistency, both + draft, - draft and + / - draft are used as model draft types. However, you should be aware that the draft must be adjusted to the model heights. And here it is important to note that a deep pattern can do with a small amount of draft, while a shallow pattern needs a lot of draft.
